Freyja's most treasured possession is her Brísingamen, an extremely valuable piece of jewelry. Created by four dwarves, they dazzled Freya with the creation of the piece whom instantly desired it more than anything. The dwarves however did not want gold or silver for the piece, but instead required her to spend the night with each of the four dwarves.
Agreeing to this Freya spent four days and four nights with them after which they gave Freya the necklace she so desired. Loki however decided to stir up some trouble and returned to Asgard before Freya and informed Odin of her activity. Overcome with anger, Odin demanded that Loki retrieve the necklace from Freya. Managing to steal the necklace from Freya while she slept and noticing its absence upon waking, Freya confronted Odin about it being taken who stated the only way she would get it back would be to spread warfare and misery in Midgard. Freyja agreed to the condition.
