The tip of the spear was said to have runes carved into it which increased the weapon’s aim and destructive power through the use of magic.
This legend was so widely believed that archaeology confirms that Norse and Germanic people did in fact carve runes into the tips of their own spears to imitate that of Odin’s in the hope of his blessing in battle.
