Scourge of England and France, father of the Great Heathen Army and widely considered the most famous Viking warrior of all time, the legendary stories of Ragnar Lothbrok have captivated people throughout the ages.

It is said that the infamous Viking warlord raided the coasts of France and England and was duly given land as well as being "paid off" with large sums of silver to leave the lands he raided due to the fear he and his army instilled.

Hubris did ultimately cause the demise of Ragnar as he believed he could raid England with no more than two ships! Upon attempting this his army was defeated and he was taken captive by the king of NorthumbriaKing Aella. Being such a significant figure and causing devastation throughout the land King Aella believed a simple execution was not good enough for Lothbrok. After being held captive and beaten severely Lothbrok was led to a pit that had been dug and filled with snakes of all sizes.

As he was thrown into the pit and mercilessly bitten and slowly constricted by the snakes he uttered his last words "How the little piggies will grunt, when they hear how the old boar suffered", a haunting warning to the king of Ragnar's sons who will be on their way to avenge their father's death

Shrouded in mystery the tales of Ragnar may be, one thing that isn't, is the fact that he was a mighty warrior, a leader of men and a legend of Norse history.

This ring is a symbol of power, leadership and the warrior spirit but is also a reminder that an inflated ego can very easily become your downfall.
